Burnings the Candle from Both Ends - Candle Painting Workshop

The first session of my workshop begins tomorrow and I am ecstatic! After two months of burning the candle at both ends I finally got my supplies in with both sessions being completely filled and infographics printed.

Encaustic painting ("to burn or fuse") began in Greece about 2,000 years ago. It is a form of painting that involves a heated wax medium to which colored pigments have been added. It was first used to decorate Greek ships then around 100 - 300 A.D. Ancient Egypt used this method to paint beautiful wax portraits of mummies. With the fall of the Roman Empire came the fall of wax painting until the 20th century when easy access to electric heating devices inflamed the fire of wax creativity. Here are a few examples of encaustic painting that I quite enjoyed:

Have you heard of this form of painting? What is a wax media you enjoy?

And if you came from the workshop for check the side tabs you'll find what you need now. The list will keep growing so continue to check weekly.
